Domain Name Registration

Lannen Designs offers domain name registration beginning as low as $8.75 per year (less than GoDaddy). Even if you do not plan on having a website in the near future or are just thinking about it you should register the domain name. The primary reason is that someone else may register the domain name you really want, and unfortunately there may be nothing you can do about it.

Note: You can register a domain name without having to have hosting. So register that domain name!! And register it for as long as possible. I recommend at least 5 years to start.

You may want to consider registering several variations and please remember that you do not need to have hosting for each domain registered.

There are registrars with the requirement that you reside or your business be physically located in their country. In the case of the .edu you must be a recognized educational institution and registration is handled by EDUCAUSE.

Domain Name Lapse

Whatever you do do not let your domain name lapse as it may or may not be possible to recover it. And a few will charge you an exorbitant fee.
